On Saturday March 12, Union Pacific Big Boy Stream locomotive Boy No. 4023 was moved from its storage track just south of the
Durham Western Heritage to just outside the gate of
Lauritzen Gardens. Sunday the locomotive slow journey ends at the new
Kenefick Park, a bluff that overlooks Interstate 80 Southeast of
the Lauritzen Gardens. It took
Scrib's Moving & heavy Hauling, Inc of David City, Nebraska, two long
days, to move this 350 ton, 1.2 million-pound locomotive 1.8 mile to it's new
home. More on this locomotive move in the Omaha World-Heard March
11th,
13th and
14th
articles. The pictures here portray its journey between 6th & Bancroft Street
and the hill a block west of the
Lauritzen Gardens.
